International Whole Vehicle Type Approval System: Minutes of the 51st (June 2026) session

Minutes of the 51st Session of Informal Group on IWVTA held June 17, 2026. Proposed UN R0/09 series of amendments (IWVTA-51-03-rev.1) will be submitted to the 199th WP.29 session. Proposed amendments to General Guidelines on transitional provisions separating V.9. and V.9.bis from transitional provisions for XX series and making them independent as P.1. and P.2. applicable to all series will be submitted to WP.29 at its June session. OICA will look for concrete examples of transitional provisions. NL/RDW will submit a proposal on scheme and procedure for adding an attribute in DETA to indicate the latest series of amendments of approvals by the next session.

UN R150: Proposal for a Supplement to the 01 series of amendments

Proposal for supplement to the 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150, amends SLR-78-07/Rev.1. Proposal to reduce the number of samples required for approval from ten to eight, delete references to colour-fastness testing and weathering resistance testing from paragraph 3.5.3.1., amend paragraphs 5.1.2., 5.1.3.1., and 5.1.7. to reflect the reduced sample requirement and revised test protocol, replace “light emitting surface” with “illuminating surface” in Annex 5, amend Annex 7 paragraph 1.1. to replace “apparent” with “noticeable” when describing surface changes, delete columns i and j and associated test rows from Tables 4 and 5, and delete Annex 11 Guidelines for installation of rear marking plates on slow-moving vehicles.

UN R150: Consolidated proposals for a Supplement to the 01 series of amendments

Proposal to amend approval marking and Unique Identifier requirements:

  • Clarify conditional requirements for approval markings and Unique Identifier usage in the Introduction,
  • Delete paragraph 3.3.3. on Unique Identifier provisions,
  • Renumber paragraphs 3.3.4. through 3.3.6. as 3.3.3. through 3.3.5.,
  • Amend paragraphs 3.3.1.1., 3.3.1.3., 3.3.5. and sub-paragraphs, and 3.3.6. and sub-paragraphs to remove references to Unique Identifier and reorganize marking requirements,
  • Add new paragraph 3.3.2.5. requiring a downward arrow for devices with reduced light distribution,
  • Amend paragraph 5.1. to expand class specifications from IA and IB to IA, IB, IIIA, IIIB and IVA,
  • Restructure paragraph 5.1.3.1. testing procedures with new sub-paragraph 5.1.3.1.1. for Classes IA, IB, IIIA and IIIB and new paragraph 5.1.3.1.2. for Class IVA specifying distinct sample groupings,
  • Amend paragraph 5.1.7. to create separate Tables 4 and 5 for chronological test orders for Classes IA, IB, IIIA, IIIB and Class IVA respectively,
  • Amend paragraphs 5.2.3.3., 5.2.5.1.1., 5.2.5.2.1., 5.2.6.3., 5.2.6.4., and 5.3.4.2.,

ADS marker lamps: Comments from the chair on AVSR-31-03/Rev.2

Proposal to add a footnote to the Scope stating that nothing in the regulation prevents a Party from prohibiting the application of these lamps, renumber para. 10.5. as 10.6., and amend para. 10.6.1. to require all ADS Marker Lamps installed on the vehicle to be automatically switched ON by the ADS when performing the DDT, to be switched OFF when conditions no longer exist, to always allow independent switching ON and OFF from all other lighting functions, and to not be switched ON when an ADS performs the DDT in a country that does not allow the use of ADS Marker Lamps.
