Series of Amendments, Supplements, and Corrigenda

This page lists changes to UN R135 by series of amendments, supplements, and corrigenda. A new series occurs when there is a material change in requirements such that an approval granted prior to the change is not equivalent to an approval given after the change. A supplement generally improves the clarity of the regulation; however, a supplement may also involve changes to the scope (range of products) covered by the regulation. A corrigenda is a correction to the text.

Proposed text transposing GTR No. 14 on pole side impact protection into a UN Regulation under the 1958 Agreement. (A separate proposal for the 01 series of amendments (document WP.29/2014/80) has also been submitted to enable Contracting Parties applying this Regulation to require a vehicle-to-pole impact speed of 32 ±1 km/h regardless of the “vehicle width”.)

Proposal to limit the scope of UN R135 to M1 vehicles under 3.5 t maximum vehicle mass and to certain N1 vehicles based on geometric measurements. The proposal would exclude the small number of M1 vehicles weighing in excess of 3.5t that are based on N2, N3, M2, or M3 platforms.

On item 4.13.3 (01 series of amendments to the new Regulation on PSI), the secretariat reminded WP.29 delegates that the UN Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) will not initiate the legal procedure for adoption of the 01 series of amendments until the original version of the Regulation on PSI entered into force.

Proposal to limit the scope of UN R135 to M1 vehicles under 3.5 t maximum vehicle mass and to certain N1 vehicles based on geometric measurements. The proposal would exclude the small number of M1 vehicles weighing in excess of 3.5t that are based on N2, N3, M2, or M3 platforms. [Because the transitional provisions of the 01 series of amendments to UN R135 stipulate an effective date of 1 September 2016, this supplement to the 01 series will remain pending until after that date. Referring to its December 2014 session (see ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/56 para. 48), GRSP confirmed its adoption and submission to WP.29 and AC.1, for consideration and vote at their June 2015 sessions, a draft Supplement 1 to the original text of the UN Regulation and a draft Supplement 1 to the 01 series of amendments to the UN Regulation on Pole Side Impact.

Proposal to introduce objective criteria for evaluating whether a door remains latched following the pole impact test. Under UN R135, rear doors on the impacted side of the vehicle not directly struck by the pole may nonetheless be subjected to heavy loads and therefore need to be assessed. This proposal corresponds to a similar clarification already introduced into UN R95 on side impacts. The proposal is also available with track changes.	WP.29/2019/111

28. GRSP agreed to keep the current definitions of “Fire” and “Explosion” in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2022/71 unchanged (submitted for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1). GRSP also agreed that these definitions would be first discussed by the informal working group on UN GTR No. 20, Phase 2 of EVS and that feedback from that discussion would be presented at its December 2022 session.
