Proposal to strip ISOFIX CRS provisions from UN R44 and to cease all new type approvals for CRS under UN R44 from November 2016 in deference to UN R129 on Enhanced CRS. Presently, all the Contracting Parties applying UN R44 also apply UN R129. Therefore, the proposal seeks to eliminate the possibility to seek new type approvals under either UN R44 or UN R129 by restricting ISOFIX CRS to UN R129.

Proposal to clarify the requirements for CRS utilizing the seat belt lap strap in order to ensure correct installation and testing and to avoid possibly dangerous misinterpretation to the test configuration.

Proposal to to clarify the provisions for dynamic testing of rear seat system, advanced restraint system approval and transitional provisions prepared by the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA) in cooperation with France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). This proposal supersedes GRSP/2015/18 and GRSP-58-35.

Presentation on discussions to define a test procedure and requirements for battery management system (BMS) warning indicators (e.g., low energy). Concerns have arisen over the range of battery designs, differences between centralized and distributed BMS, and that ability to devise a coherent test procedure to cover all the possible variations.

Proposal to develop an amendment to GTR No. 1 to provide alternatives to ensure adequate protection against accidental opening of the rear door while the vehicle is in motion.

Presentation on child restraint systems that can be integral or non-integral and related labeling/installation issues.

Overview of provisions for the electric vehicle safety GTR towards defining those ready for incorporation into the first proposal to establish the GTR and those open items to be resolved and include in the GTR in a later amendment.

Proposal to correct a reference in UN R134, Annex 3, paragraph 3.4. The reference to paragraph 6.2.2.2. was transposed from GTR No. 13; however, it ostensibly refers paragraph 2.2 of Annex 3 in UN R134.

Proposal to define provisions for “Integral” and “Non-Integral” Enhanced Child Restraint Systems (ECRS). “Integral” refers to systems where the child is restrained only by components which comprise the ECRS (e.g. strap harness, impact shield, etc.), and not by means connected directly to the vehicle (e.g. adult seat belt). “Non-Integral”, then, refers to systems where the child is retained by use of the adult seat belt connected directly to the vehicle. This proposal represents “Phase 1” in the development of UN R129.

Proposal to limit the use of a booster cushion (booster seat without backrest) with children of a stature greater than 125 cm (i.e., prohibit use of booster cushion for children under 125 cm) and the application for type approval of such CRS only in mass Group III for children of mass from 22 kg to 36 kg and to clarify that a guide strap which constrains the shoulder strap of the adult seat belt in a position to suit the child in a child restraint system cannot be approved as a separate CRS under UN R44.
