1998 Global Agreement 1998 Global Agreement WP.29 Agreements and Resolutions Agreement concerning the establishing of global technical regulations for wheeled vehicles, equipment, and parts which can be fitted and/or be used on wheeled vehicles The 1998 Global Agreement provides the framework for establishing UN Global Technical Regulations. Under the Agreement, the World Forum maintains a <a href="http://www.unece.org/trans/main/wp29/wp29wgs/wp29gen/wp29glob_candidate.html" target="_blank">Compendium of Candidates</a> listing national and/or regional regulations proposed by Contracting Parties as possible bases for the development of Global Technical Regulations. MR 2: VPSD Mutual Resolution No. 2: Vehicle Propulsion System Definitions WP.29 Agreements and Resolutions Certain UN Regulations and UN GTR, including texts under development, include terms, definitions, and classifications relating to vehicle powertrain systems (e.g., electric vehicle, fuel cell vehicle), energy storage systems (e.g., fuel tank, gas cylinder, battery), and energy converter (e.g., internal combustion engine, fuel cell, electric machine). However, the definition of these terms varies across the regulations which can lead to confusion and inconsistencies in the application of regulatory requirements. Mutual Resolution No. 2 is intended as a repository for terms, acronyms, and definitions towards ensuring their uniform use across regulations. MR 3: VIAQ Mutual Resolution No. 3: Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ) WP.29 Agreements and Resolutions Korea raised this issue in June 2013 in response to reports of vehicle occupant headaches, dizziness, and other symptoms thought to be linked with evaporative emissions originating with the chemical compounds used in the construction of vehicle interiors. The particular concern is that the use of certain volatile organic compounds and other chemicals in adhesives and interior plastics may be generating noxious fumes, especially in hot conditions.
