UN Regulation No. 32 aims to reduce the risk of occupant injury due to deformation of the occupant compartment of passenger car (M1 category) in the event of a rear-end collision. The test procedure simulates a rear-end collision on the stationary vehicle in order to assess the behavior of the passenger compartment. Alternative methods are permitted provided equivalence with the prescribed test procedure can be demonstrated.
