Proposal from Italy to clarify provisions concerning the use of Combined Braking Systems (CBS) in GTR No. 3.

Updated proposal for a series of amendments to clarify a variety of requirements, notably concerning test surface requirements, ABS cycling, and peak braking coefficient measurements. The proposal clarifies the terms “inoperative” and “disconnected”, introduces the “K-method” and the use of a representative vehicle based on UN R13-H.

The proposed amendments would:

a) clarify possible confusion in the interpretation of the terms “inoperative” and “disconnected”;
b) update requirements for combined braking systems;
c) introduce the “K-method”; and
d) introduce the concept of a representative vehicle based on the
provisions of Regulation No. 13-H.
