UN Regulation No. 6
Direction Indicators

Uniform provisions concerning the approval of direction indicators for power-driven vehicles and their trailers

UNECE R6 establishes technical and administrative criteria for the approval of driver-operated devices that signal a driver’s intention to change the direction in which his or her vehicle is proceeding.

The regulation applies solely to “fixed-position flashing light devices whose flashing is obtained by the intermittent supply of electric current to the lamp”.

This regulation will be superseded by a new UN Regulation on Light-Signalling Devices (LSD) under the Simplification of Lighting Regulations development program.
