China Academy of Information and Communication Technology

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), founded in 1957 and headquartered in Beijing, is a scientific research institute directly under China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It functions as a specialized government think-tank and the MIIT’s technical arm in the telecommunications and digital economy sectors, covering 5G, the industrial Internet, IoT, the Internet of Vehicles, AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. CAICT supports standards-setting, testing and certification, policy development, and contributes to major legislation such as the Cybersecurity Law. It was formerly known as the Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Research (CATR).
