Australia is a Contracting Party to the 1958 and 1998 Agreements.

Australian vehicle regulations (Australian Design Rules) can be found under the Legislative Instruments section of the Government’s Federal Register of Legislation.

The 1958 Agreement applies to all territories for whose international relations Australia is responsible with the exception of Norfolk Island.

Australia’s application of the 1998 Agreement does not extend to the Australian Antarctic Territory, Coral Sea Islands Territory, Norfolk Island, Territory of Ashmore Reef and Cartier Island, Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands, Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Territory of Christmas Island.
