The representative of the Secretariat of the Basel Convention delivered a presentation on the environmentally sound management of waste tyres (GRBP-82-30) and invited GRBP experts to provide inputs to the ongoing review of the Technical Guidelines for the Environmentally Sound Management of Used and Waste Pneumatic Tyres. The Chair and the expert from ETRTO pointed out that UN Regulations Nos. 108 and 109 on retreaded tyres, the provisions on worn tyres in UN Regulation No. 117 and the ongoing work on tyre abrasion were relevant for the Basel Convention and the Guidelines.
31. GRBP was briefed on the activities of the OICA/ACEA Task Force on Exterior Acoustic Signalling on developing guidelines for exterior acoustic signals (GRBP-82-21). GRBP noted that, once ready, the guidelines should be brought to the attention of the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG), as a number of UN Regulations in the scope of GRSG provided for exterior acoustic signals.
32. GRBP took note of a calendar of forthcoming noise and tyre related meetings in 2025-2026 (GRBP-82-40).
