Draft agenda for the first session of the Task Force on the 03 series of amendments to UN R40, scheduled for 9 October 2026. The session will include welcome remarks, introduction of participants, adoption of the draft agenda, and introduction of the Task Force establishment proposal. IMMA will present an overview of the 02 series of amendments based on UN GTR No. 2. The Task Force Co-Chairs will introduce a proposal on conducting discussions on the 03 series, addressing the regulation progressively with Co-Chairs defining specific sections for analysis at each meeting. The basis for discussions is the draft R40.03 submitted by IMMA. Future Task Force sessions are scheduled before EPPR sessions in November 2026, January 2027, February 2027, and June 2027.
Minutes of the twelfth meeting of the IWG on EV/HFCV Retrofit Systems held 28 September 2026. The group adopted the provisional agenda and reviewed the work program, aiming to provide GRPE with a first draft of a future UN Regulation by 14–16 October 2026. The group focused on revising definitions in the draft UN Regulation, particularly EPRS definition, EPRS type, vehicle family, and installer provisions. Key unresolved issues include which components must remain identical within an approved type, alternative ways of grouping vehicles within a family, whether installer requirements should be included in the UN Regulation, and the scope regarding vehicles subject to UN Regulations Nos. 155 and 156.
Document presents technical challenges to defining retrofit kit types for electric conversion and approval processes. Identifies that retrofit kit type perimeter depends on the regulation considered, with different requirements across UN R10, R13, R100, R85, R138, WLTP, R79, R39, R51, R89, R121, and R122. Presents testing challenges at vehicle, component, and EPRS levels, noting that testing a kit type not installed on a vehicle is impossible to account for all impacts on the vehicle.

Presentation of ZF’s tread wear tester for C3 tires, available for operation in Passau until at least September 2029. ZF intends to operate the test rig in cooperation with fka for method development, validation, and correlation with on-road testing. The machine will be fully operational at ZF with climate chamber, cooling and filtering, and powder supply, with target operational date Q1 2027. FKA plans to acquire the machine and operate it at the ZF site for the first few years.
Test findings from seven circuits in the Republic of Korea show that estimated SRTT17S abrasion levels at 20 °C exceeded the specified range of 25–75 mg/(kmt) at six of the seven circuits tested. These results indicate that conducting UN R186 tyre abrasion tests in the Republic of Korea on circuits that meet the current range would be challenging at present. The Republic of Korea suggests reviewing the suitability of the current circuit abrasion level range and commits to support efforts to establish a circuit abrasion level range applicable to circuits worldwide.
Presentation of a concept for accelerated tire wear testing using a standard truck with independent steering on left and right sides. The method employs steering actuators from existing steered rear axles to create longitudinal and lateral slip, accelerating tire wear while maintaining representative behavior. Reference tire and test specimen can be mounted on separate axles to compare wear rates.
Agenda for the 22nd ADS informal working group session and the 20th GRVA Workshop on ADS, held 6-9 October 2026 in Sydney, Australia. Day 1 covers welcome, agenda adoption, status of work, GRVA highlights, Guidance and Interpretation Document, ADS Phase 2 context, and review of Phase 2 programme proposals. Day 2 addresses refinement of Phase 2 tasks, Australia’s proposed framework, allocation of work items, and integration into 2026-2029 strategy. Day 3 includes ADS2 schedule, coordination with other groups, and GTR, UNR, and GID change requests. Day 4 covers next steps and first ADS2 IWG session logistics for December in The Hague.
