Proposal for the 03 series of amendments to Regulation No. 34

Japan proposes revisions to certain collision conditions in the UN R34 provisions for fire prevention in the event of a rear collision to conform to conditions that have been made mandatory in Japan. Once amended, Japan would adopt UN R34 pursuant to the whole vehicle type approval (IWVTA) effort.
Proposal to add field-of-vision provisions to enhance the safety of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users in narrow alleys and by-streets and other improvements to Regulation No. 46, including to further the development of the International Whole Vehicle Type Approval (IWVTA) program.
Presentation on Japan’s concerns and proposals regarding the rear vision of large vehicles on narrow streets and alleyways and pedestrian safety. Japan wishes to resolve this issue in order to make progress towards the International Whole Vehicle Type Approval system.
