The text reproduced below was prepared by the GRE Informal Working Group on Simplification of Lighting and Light-Signalling Regulations (IWG SLR) with the aim to correct some errors identified in the proposal for a new supplement to the 03, 04 and 05 series of amendments

Proposal that retrofitted and distracting stylish and outside facing interior lighting should not be allowed through interpretation of the revised regulation.

Proposal to amend GRE-85-20

Proposal clarifies that other logos than the vehicle or body manufacturer logos are prohibited.

Proposal to allow the driver to make a gradual (smooth) manoeuvre instead of an abrupt one. To achieve this, the warning shall be provided in advance, when the vehicle is about to exit the lane (before it crosses the lane marking), as opposed to when the vehicle has exited its lane (started crossing or has crossed the lane marking).

Proposal to allow the use of manufacturer logos inside the illuminant surface of a signalling lamp.

Proposal by IWG SLR introduces a simple performance-oriented criterion and adds an objective value for the visibility of the red light towards the front and white light towards the rear of the vehicle. Additionally, the proposal allows for additional contributors to the driving beam without an adaptive front-lighting system (AFS).

Proposal by IWG SLR references headlamp classes in the 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149. Additionally, a performance-oriented criterion has been introduced in order to evaluate the visibility of red light to the front and white light to the rear of the vehicle. The provisions concerning the class RA “Auxiliary driving-beam” are shown in square brackets.

Proposal by the experts from GTB with the aim to allow driver assistance projections, on the road ahead of the vehicle, as part of the Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB). It also proposes same supplement for R149.
