GRE/2019/11 02 Feb 2019 Working Party Installation of Lighting and Lighting-Signalling Equipment Installation of Lighting Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Vehicles with regard to the Installation of Lighting and Light-signalling Devices Proposal to:<ol class="alpha"><li>update requirements for headlamps and daytime running lamps related to headlamp switching. In particular, the proposed 07 series of amendments aims to clarify electrical connection requirements, conditions for manual switching OFF of headlamps, and new definitions for switching ON/OFF and for activating/deactivating lamps;</li><li>introduce technical parameters for speed and vehicle distance, allowing reduced intensity at speeds lower than 20 km/h, in order to encourage reduced glaring effects from rear signaling lamps;</li><li>introduce references to the three new simplified lighting Regulations (Light-Signalling Devices (LSD), Road Illumination Devices (RID) and Retro-Reflective Devices (RRD)).</li></ol>The proposal was prepared by a special interest group of GRE experts on the new 07 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 48. UN R53: Proposal for an amendment to the draft 03 series of amendments (IMMA)
GRE/2019/12 04 Feb 2019 Working Party Installation of Motorcycle Lighting Motorcycle Lighting Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Category L3 Vehicles with regard to the Installation of Lighting and Light-signalling Devices Proposal to restore the original automatic headlamp ON (AHO) requirement for vehicles not equipped with daytime running lamps (DRL). The 03 series of amendments (focusing on DRL) as approved by GRE during its October 2018 session (document GRE/2018/50) changes provisions for automatic headlamps as adopted for motorcycles in 2004 (see document GRE/2003/12/Rev.1). While appropriate for vehicles equipped with DRL, the changes would reduce safety for vehicles not equipped with DRL. GRE/2019/0012
