Status report to the WLTP informal group as part of the ongoing validation of the Phase 1a test procedures.

Criteria for dual-axis chassis dynamometers have been added to the GTR in paragraph 2.3 in Annex 5, with the intention to make the use of a dual-axis chassis dynamometer mandatory for vehicles tested in 4WD mode. Though these criteria were put in place, there was no specific requirement added to include the requirement that vehicles tested in 4WD mode are actually tested on a dual-axis chassis dynamometer. This proposal would add a paragraph to address this omission.

Draft proposal for a mandate to develop two different types of tests:

a) In-service-conformity (ISC) testing to be done by the manufacturer and the authority responsible for issuing the emission type approval and intended to assess the durability of emission control systems over a certain period of use.

b) Verification testing typically to be done by an independent third party, i.e. an authority not involved in the initial type approval process, NGOs or the manufacturers’ peers, in order to check the integrity of the initial approval test itself and to ensure that the use of (partially inevitable) test flexibilities by the manufacturer is limited.

1) Bag measurements vs continuous diluted sampling and 2) Calibration gases and mixtures

Starting note for correction factors for the dynamometer roller radius, additional cooling fan, and alternative road load determination process.

Proposal to clarify procedures (calculation of dynamometer setting coefficient) and number of coast-down runs required.

Draft proposal for consideration of testing where the test track is too short to coast down from ~145 km/h to ~15 km/h within a single straight track, thus necessitating split runs.

Proposal for a mandate to develop provisions under GTR No. 15 to check the level of specific pollutant emissions of vehicles corresponding to conditions encountered during the winter season.

Goals and objectives for the task force established to draft provisions for GTR No. 15 to ensure that pollutant emissions do not exceed emission limits throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.
