Document title	Proposal for amendments to Regulation No. 79
Date	5 Jul 2013			At the 74th GRRF session, CLCCR presented document GRRF-74-37 which noted that a design restriction in UN R79 prevents trailers from using energy from a towing vehicle. Following discussion, a number of delegates indicated their support for an amendment to remove this restriction and enable the use of new technologies.

GRRF \| Session 75 \| 17-19 Sep 2013			37. On behalf of CLCCR, the expert from CLEPA proposed amendments to UN Regulation No. 79 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2013/25) inserting new requirements for trailers with a steering control system utilising electrical energy from the towing vehicle. The proposal received some comments (GRRF-75-11). The expert from Japan noted the absence of a definition for “IP54”. GRRF agreed to resume consideration of this subject at its next session on the basis of a revised proposal.
