Informal Group on the Installation of Agricultural Vehicle Lighting | Session 3 | 2-3 Dec 2013
Bonn
Agenda Item 5.
Next steps

12. The secretary will revise AVLI-01-03/Rev.2a according to the decisions taken by 2013-12-06. This document will be distributed as AVLI-01-03/Rev.2b as an informal document.

13. As the Commission intends to include the results of AVLI into Annex XII of RVFSR, AVLI will recommend to the Commission to keep the lamps mentioned under 4. above optional. The main reason for this is that the introduction of the installation of previously optional lamps as a mandatory requirement needs appropriate lead time. If GRE takes this decision, they will consider this appropriately and in that case the risk occurs that EU and UN could have different introduction dates which should be absolutely avoided. AVLI will also recommend that the Commission keeps the installation requirements for R and S vehicles as they stand in Annex XII as AVLI is presently not able to introduce towed vehicles into UN R86. The reason is that R.E.3 presently has no definition of agricultural trailers® or towed interchangeable equipment (S). To include these vehicles into R86 an appropriate amendment of R.E. 3 is necessary.

14. As agreed during the 2nd session, Italy will check the whole document with the objective to align the wording with R48 wherever suitable and will make appropriate proposals. These proposals will be considered in a small taskforce, comprising of the expert from Italy, the Secretary and the Chairmen in Brussels on 18 December 2013. The result of this editorial work will be included in a further revision, which will become AVLI-01-03/Rev.3. This document will be sent to the GRE secretary as a formal document for the 71st session for adoption by GRE.
