Proposal to amend the title of UN R31 by inserting “Halogen” and using the abbreviation “HSB” in order to distiguish the regulation from UN R5. In its justification, GTB also raises the “freezing” of both these regulations as they relate to outdated technologies for future consideration.

Text adopted by the Working Party on Lighting and Light-Signalling (GRE) to update the definition of “type”.

During the preparation of the proposal in GRE/2012/7 to update the definition of “type”, the corresponding amendment to Regulation No. 31 was unintentionally omitted. This addendum completes the collective amendment.
