Proposal to increase the maximum operational speed to 130 km/h, add lane-change and minimal risk manoeuvre provisions, responsiveness to emergency vehicles, and introduce data collection specifications.

Proposal to clarify that the occurrence flag to be stored according to paragraph 8.2.1. (n) are linked to the abortion of the lane change manoeuvre rather than to the procedure and to make related clarifications for consistency.

Proposal to align the text with the guidelines on UN regulatory procedures and transitional provisions in UN Regulations (document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1044/Rev.3). Under the guidelines, a UN Regulation (in this case, UN R157) making reference to the provisions of another UN Regulation (in this case, UN R10) shall not require actual approval to that UN regulation but simply refer to the provisions of that UN Regulation.

Proposal to clarify EMC requirements: "The effectiveness of the system shall not be adversely affected by magnetic or electrical fields. This shall be demonstrated by fulfilling the technical requirements and respecting the transitional provisions of 07 or later series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 10.”

Proposal to clarify the provisions concerning the conditions for automatic re-instatement of the system at the “initiation of each engine start / run cycle”.

Proposal for terminology about the status of the system following an “engine start / run cycle”, to limit regular lane changes to roads “where it is possible to assess and handle the speed of an approaching vehicle” and to restrict lane changes by heavy vehicles (M₃ and N₃) to roads where the maximum permissible speed of target lane is “limited for all vehicle categories”, and to simplify the original text.
