The EU is developing a Mobile Air-Conditioning test procedure (MACTP) to measure MAC energy efficiency and its impact on vehicle emissions for implementation "as soon as possible". Consequently, the Forum has established an informal group to address this effort.

The MACTP informal group mission includes:
- To collaborate with the EC in the development of the procedures;
- To ensure that other signatories to the 1958 Agreement are aware of and can contribute to the EU work; and
- To ensure exchange of information with 1998 Agreement signatories, such as India, China, and in particular, the US.

Once the EU completes its draft test procedure, the MACTP group would pursue its integration into UNECE R101 and Annex 4 of UNECE R83.
