ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) was set up in 1988 by the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) in response to proposals from the European Commission. In 2013, ETSI was confirmed as a European Standards Organisation under EU Regulation 1025/2012.
