ADS Marker Lamps: Intermediate draft for a new UN Regulation

This intermediate draft proposes a new UN Regulation on ADS Marker Lamps based on discussions in technical groups. The regulation establishes requirements for approval of ADS Marker Lamps for motor vehicles of categories M1–M3, N1–N3, L6–L7, and O, as well as vehicle installation requirements. Key provisions include definitions of front, rear, and side ADS Marker Lamp categories with specifications for luminous intensity, colour (blue-green), geometric visibility angles, and positioning. Substitute Light Sources: Report of the 28th (June 2026) session

The meeting reviewed documents on substitute light sources including H10, HIR2, HB3, and H9 LED retrofit types for UN R.E.5 approval. Category sheets for these types were confirmed. The Task Force agreed to submit four category sheets as a single formal document to GRE with justification in two parts. Market surveillance activities were discussed with CITA, WP29 IWG on PTI, EU Forum on Market Surveillance, and UK authorities to identify approved or non-approved LED retrofit products. A follow-up meeting was scheduled for 13 July 2026.

Glare prevention: Draft recommendations for submission to GRE

TFGP-08-06 (Rev. of TFGP-07-08) presents draft recommendations for GRE on glare prevention. The recommendations include:

  • Consider dynamic auto-levelling for all vehicles,
  • lower maximum installation height of headlamps,
  • reduce the 2000lm limit for headlamp cleaning devices and make cleaning mandatory on AFS/ADB lamps,
  • improve ADB requirements for latency and vehicle detection,
  • introduce Motorway ADB requirements,
  • define adaptive cut-off lines,
  • address PTI coordination with type approval requirements,
  • provide driver instructions for ADB manual override,
  • improve headlamp cleaning enforcement and driver awareness,
  • investigate aiming differences between production line and PTI,
  • address alignment degradation within the first 10,000 km.
