Proposal prepared by the experts of the Informal Working Group (IWG) on Global Technical Regulation No. 9 Phase 2 (GTR9-PH2) and proposes provisions on pedestrian safety and motor vehicles. It represents the final proposal of the Informal Group for Phase 2 of GTR No. 9, based on document GRSP/2014/15 proposing to introduce the Flex PLI lower legform impactor and related test procedures into the GTR on pedestrian safety protection, including the new bumper test area specifications.. As such, the document incorporates also the results of the Task Force Bumper Test Area as well as the comments provided in the informal document of the US from last December’s GRSP (GRSP/2017/3). |

| Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standards: Seat belt reminder and FlexPLI |

On 14 November 2017, Korea introduced rear seat-belt reminder requirements into the KMVSS aligned with the 07 series of amendments to UN R16. The requirements become mandatory from 1 September 2019. At the same time, Korea also adopted the FlexPLI test tool for pedestrian protection testing aligned with the draft Amendment 2 to GTR No. 9. Compliance testing with the FlexPLI will start from 1 January 2018 (given that the FlexPLI has been in use under Korea NCAP since 2015). |
