Lamps under parked conditions: Input on Energy Status Indicator and Lamp Test Mode

OICA proposes:

Amend the heading of para. 2.11.5. to clarify that additional colours are introduced specifically for energy status indication,
Add colour requirements in para. 5.15. permitting white, amber, red, selective-yellow, indicator blue, or indicator green for energy status indicators, with indicator blue and indicator green reserved for charging, discharging, or scheduling of energy transfer to or from the rechargeable electrical energy storage system,
Replace multiple charging connector provisions in para. 6.29.9.1. to specify conditions for energy status indicator activation,
Add para. 6.29.9.1.1. permitting independent activation of multiple energy status indicators,
Insert para. 6.29.9.6. requiring vehicle manufacturers to declare intended use of indicator blue and indicator green in the information document,
Add para. 6.29.9.2. establishing observation area intensity requirements and limiting intensity outside this area to 140 cd,
Amend Annex 14 to include energy status indicators.

Lamps Under Parked Conditions: Agenda for the 12th (September 2026) session

Reference Number: LUPC-12-01

The Task Force on Lamps Under Parked Conditions will hold its 12th session as a hybrid meeting in Tokyo on 11 September 2026. Lamps Under Parked Conditions: Report of the 11th (June 2026) session

Reference Number: LUPC-11-03

Task Force on Lamps Under Parked Conditions held its 11th session on 8–10 June 2026 in Paris. The agenda and previous report were adopted without changes. Experts reviewed proposals for modifications to UN R48, discussing energy status indicator colour conventions, apparent surface requirements, numbers of indicators for multiple charging connectors, and lamp test modes. Key decisions included restricting indicator illumination to connectors in use, maintaining 1–25 cm² apparent surface for most indicators with 1–150 cm² for connector-surrounding indicators, and performing one mode test per class in neutral state. The next meeting is scheduled for 11 September 2026 in Tokyo, with a final proposal targeted for April 2027 GRE session.

UN R155: Concept for approval of components

Reference Number: TFCS-39-04

This document presents a concept for approvals of electrical/electronic sub-assemblies (ESAs) as components according to UN R155, and the installation of such approved components on vehicles already holding UN R155 approval. The proposal removes the possibility of separate technical unit (STU) approvals as a first step, limiting coverage to components connected only to power and/or reading data through approved existing interfaces. The document restructures UN R155 into three parts: Part I covers vehicle type approvals; Part II covers ESA component approvals with cybersecurity requirements; Part III covers vehicle type approvals regarding installation of approved ESAs. Requirements include cybersecurity management systems, risk assessments, threat mitigations, and reporting provisions for development, production, and post-production phases.

UN R155: Proposal to amend the Interpretation Document

Reference Number: TFCS-39-02

Proposal to amend Paragraph B to insert new requirement 5.1.3 establishing that the Approval Authority or Technical Service shall refuse to grant type approval regarding cyber security where the vehicle manufacturer has not fulfilled requirements in paragraph 7.3., notably that the Certificate of Compliance for the Cyber Security Management System has not been issued by the same Approval Authority granting the type approval, add explanatory text clarifying that this ensures Article 2(2) of the 1958 Agreement compliance while permitting cooperation between Approval Authorities and acceptance of prior documentation, amend Paragraph K to remove existing guidance text in paragraphs 6.1 and 7.1 regarding Certificate of Compliance issuance and inter-Authority arrangements, and insert statement that no guidance is included regarding paragraph 6 requirements. These changes support proposal GRVA/2026/30.

UN R160: Proposal for amendments to Step 2 draft

Reference Number: SG-EDR-48-04

Proposal to amend UN R160:

Insert new paras. 12.12. to 12.17. establishing transitional provisions for the 03 series of amendments, including that:
- from the official date of entry into force, no Contracting Party shall refuse type approvals under the amended Regulation,
- from 1 September 2031, Contracting Parties shall not be obliged to accept type approvals to preceding series first issued after that date,
- until 1 September 2033, Contracting Parties shall accept type approvals to the 02 series first issued before 1 September 2031,
- from 1 September 2033, Contracting Parties shall not be obliged to accept type approvals to preceding series,
- Contracting Parties may grant type approvals according to any preceding series,
- and Contracting Parties shall continue to grant extensions of existing approvals to any preceding series,
Amend Annex 4 Table 1 and footnotes 28, 29, and 30 regarding trigger activated recording, powertrain torque demand signals, AEBS target classification, and TTC calculation requirements.

Simplification of Lighting Regulations: Report of the 77th (April 2026) session

Reference Number: SLR-77-17

At the 77th SLR meeting (Brussels, April 2026), participants reviewed and improved baseline documents for UN Regulations 48, 53, 74, and 86, reflected in SLR-77-08/Rev.1, SLR-77-09, SLR-77-10, and SLR-77-07 respectively. SLR approved a revised proposal to correct errors in Reg. 150-01 (SLR-77-06/Rev.1, superseding GRE-94-02) and a compromise text prohibiting additional lamps unless complying with national requirements. SLR agreed to postpone official document submission to GRE-96 (April 2027) and will submit 11 informal documents to GRE-94, including status report, four baseline documents, four highlights slides, a proposal on technological neutrality, and the revised correction proposal. Discussions on apparent surface, direction indicator visibility, and direction indicator lamp height will resume at SLR-78 (June 2026).

EqOP Virtual Crash Testing: Agenda for the 16th (September 2026) session
