5. New UN Global Technical Regulation on children left in vehicles

11. The expert from Australia presented the status report of the IWG on Children Left in Vehicles (IWG-CLIV) (informal document GRSP-79-26), including meetings held by the IWG, proposals discussed at other GRs and future work. He also presented informal document GRSP-79-27 with a first draft of a new UN Regulation on CLIV for buses (M2 and M3 vehicles). GRSP discussed several topics including the incorporation of data submitted by the United States of America into the work of the IWG on a new UN GTR, prevention of false alarms, differences by country in procedures of embarking and disembarking school buses, intersection with ADS and the potential for deactivation of the CLIV features when buses were not used to transport children. The expert from Australia requested GRSP experts to send him any additional feedback before 10 June 2026 so that the group could incorporate it and submit a working document to the December 2026 session of GRSP.
