6. (a) UN Regulation No. 48

GRE may wish to consider a proposal that was tabled by the expert from the Czech Republic to introduce a new safety call for help signal.

GRE/2026/2 | UN R48: Proposal for a Supplement to the 06, 07, 08 and 09 series of amendments

GRE will address a revised proposal prepared by the experts from the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) with the aim to prevent the approval of a manufacturer logo under UN Regulation No. 149.

GRE is invited to consider a proposal by the experts GTB that aims to clarify the meaning of pair of lamps in case of a design like a band or a strip. This proposal is submitted in a package with an amendment proposal to UN Regulation No. 148.

GRE will address draft amendments that were tabled by the experts from GTB with the aim to exclude retro-reflective devices and markings from the requirement of “red light to the front” and “white light to the rear”.

GRE will consider a proposal by the experts from GTB that introduces selective yellow as an alternative to white for front position lamps and daytime running lamps. This proposal is accompanied by a corresponding amendment proposal to UN Regulation No. 148.

GRE will address draft amendments that were tabled by the experts from GTB with the aim to align the exterior courtesy lamps provisions in the 08 series of amendments with those in the 09 series.

At its previous session, GRE agreed on the technical requirements for work lamps and decided to continue consideration of transitional provisions only. To make progress, GRE invited France, in cooperation with OICA, to prepare a new document.

GRE will be informed about the activities of the Task Force on Lamps Under Parked Conditions (TF LUPC) and will come back to their proposals for a new series of amendments.
