The representative of the United States of America recalled the progress made by the Informal Working Group on Electric Vehicle Safety, UN GTR No. 20, during the meeting held on February 2025 (see also ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1184, paragraph 117). He explained that the group expects to finish their current work after a meeting to be held in September 2025 and to submit amendments for consideration by GRSP in its December 2025 session. The group is also compiling a list of new issues and might request a mandate extension to deal with them once they conclude the work on thermal propagation. The representative of Canada commended the United States and the European Union for their leadership as well as all contributing experts for their valuable work and reiterated the commitment of Canada to this topic.
