Progress report from the informal group of experts working to introduce provisions for plastic windscreens, window panes, and other plastic glazing into UN R43.

Proposal to amend UN R43 to cover various types of plastic glazing under consideration by automotive industry for installation in vehicles in order to reduce vehicle weight and thereby fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

WP.29 voted to align UN Regulation procedures with the EU Whole Vehicle Approval Directive 2007/46/EC. This document proposes revisions to regulations under the purview of GRSG per the revised UN Regulatory Procedures and Transitional Provisions (document WP.29/1044/Rev.1).
