Report of the 34th meeting of the GRE Taskforce on Autonomous Vehicle Signalling Requirements held on 22 September 2026. The group reviewed a draft proposal hybrid regulation for ADS marker lamp after an editorial meeting, going through the entire document and deleting unnecessary comments. Para. 9.26 regarding substitution will be placed in square brackets for further discussion at GRE, as Japan opposes it due to lack of scientific evidence. Paragraphs 10.6.2. to 10.6.5. regarding reciprocal incorporation with direction indicators were reworked, and justification text requires further development for the formal proposal. Document AVSR-34-02 will be sent to GRE-95 as an informal document.
Proposal for uniform provisions concerning approval of ADS marker lamps for power-driven vehicles and their trailers, and approval of vehicles with regard to installation of ADS marker lamps. Covers component approval requirements including luminous intensity, colour, and light distribution for front, rear, and side ADS marker lamps, and vehicle installation requirements including position, geometric visibility, electrical connections, and conformity of production procedures.
Proposal for a new UN Regulation establishing uniform provisions for type approval of Electric Powertrain Retrofit Systems (EPRS) designed for conversion of vehicles of categories M and N to full electric propulsion. The regulation does not apply to vehicles holding approval under UN R155 or UN R156. It sets out requirements for EPRS manufacturers, installers, markings, approval procedures, general and specific technical requirements for retrofit systems, installer authorization and training, documentation to be provided by manufacturers, conformity of production, modification and extension of approvals, and penalties for non-conformity.
Provisional agenda for the twelfth meeting of the IWG on EV/HFCV-RS to be held on 28 September 2026. The agenda covers adoption of the agenda, approval of minutes from the previous meeting, coordination and organization of work, power determination and battery range, UN draft documents, and any other business, with the next meeting scheduled for 8 October 2026.

Report on a workshop organized by the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 25 August 2026 in Brussels to address transparency provisions in UN R43. The workshop discussed current transparency requirements, alternative test procedures for reflection, definitions such as chameleon effect, and amendments to working document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2026/20. Participants agreed transparency provisions are not direction-dependent, confirmed the importance of driver visibility, and noted the absence of measurement procedures or objective criteria for reflection levels. The proposal is to add a footnote to clarify requirements for the driver’s forward field of vision, with future evaluation of whether more objective measurement provisions on reflections are needed.
