Awareness of Vulnerable Road Users during Low-speed Maneuvers (VRU-Proxi)
Reports to GRSG

The VRU Proximity informal working group was authorized in 2017 to work on a proposal for a new UN Regulation to establish uniform requirements for vision and detection systems to reduce the risk of collision with pedestrians behind or near a vehicle moving in reverse gear. The group’s work has evolved to include the safety of VRU all around the vehicle, including forward and lateral direct vision and obstacle detection and driver warning.

In addition to documents posted for VRU-Proxi group meetings, the informal group has created a Generic Information page with certain reference documents.
