Joint OICA and CLEPA workgroup presentation on industry guidelines for life cycle assessment of passenger cars and parts. The guidelines establish a common global methodology for LCA data exchange along the supply chain, independent of regulatory development. Key technical points include defining functional units for passenger cars and a declared unit for parts, specifying primary and secondary data requirements, addressing chain of custody through aligned models and mass balance approaches, allowing mixed energy modelling approaches with market-based modelling for decarbonisation efforts, introducing representative vehicles for full vehicle LCA reporting, and introducing representative parts to simplify supplier reporting to OEMs.
