64. The representative of Canada presented the summary of the first meeting of the IWG on ACPE on the development of a UN GTR on ACPE (GRVA‑24‑35), held virtually on 28 November 2025. He described the topics reviewed during the meeting, including a presentation by Canada of 14 real‑world collisions caused by pedal misapplication, noting that only a few cases would trigger ACPE if assessed against the requirements of UN Regulation No. 175. He summarized the activities of the group, including the adaptation of the text structure to suit the needs of a GTR, and highlighted the additional research planned for 2026 aimed at potentially broadening the ACPE intervention criteria. He also noted that the group would consider possible amendments to UN Regulation No. 175 to avoid divergence with the GTR, should different requirements be warranted. GRVA discussed whether the first version of the UN GTR should be aligned with UN Regulation No. 175 or follow a phased approach. GRVA encouraged the group to adjust the frequency of its meetings and to reflect on an appropriate timeline.
