Agenda item 8. (c) Clarifications

Proposal to clarify that the parking brake may be actuated while the vehicle is in motion via actuation of the vehicle’s service braking system by means of an auxiliary control which could be an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) and to promote consistent interpretation of the activation conditions for an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), including by application of the service braking system via the EPB control.

The representative of OICA presented GRVA-24-08 proposing to align the provisions of UN Regulation No. 13 with those already approved by GRVA (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/45/Rev.1) for UN Regulation No. 13-H. GRVA requested the secretariat to submit it as draft supplements to the 12, 13 14 and 15 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 13 to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote at their June 2026 sessions.
