77. The representative of Germany, Co-Chair of the IWG on Acceleration Control for Pedal Error (ACPE), presented (GRVA-20-45) the status of the group. He informed GRVA that the group prepared an amendment (GRVA-20-46) to ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2024/154, tabled for adoption by WP.29 in November 2024. He provided insight into the development of the 01 series of amendments to the ACPE regulation and sought guidance from GRVA on whether to include Category N1 in the scope of the regulation. He briefly mentioned the activities under the 1998 Agreement, pending approval of AC.3.
78. GRVA invited the inclusion of Category N1 in the scope of the regulation and to address the challenges mentioned by the industry.
79. GRVA requested the secretariat to submit GRVA-20-46/Rev.2 for consideration and vote by WP.29 and AC.1 at their November 2024 sessions.
80. GRVA noted that some countries (Canada, Germany, Republic of Korea, Japan and the United States of America) were considering volunteering to be technical sponsors for the development of the UN Global Technical Regulation on ACPE.
