The GRE Task Force on LED Substitutes / Retrofits prepared proposals for four new LED replacement light source categories: H9_LEDr, H10_LEDr, HIR2_LEDr, and HB3_LEDr, developed in accordance with GRE-91-14 and GRE-94-18 and taking into account equivalence criteria detailed in GRE-83-15. All four categories meet photometric, thermal, and electrical performance requirements using established bi-directional equivalence concepts. H9_LEDr, HIR2_LEDr, and HB3_LEDr employ control point requirements instead of black-top specifications. All four categories have longer area B with modified homogeneity requirements. H9_LEDr contains a single luminous flux specification of 1875 lm at 13.2V to limit impact on beam performance in high-beam and bi-functional applications.
Proposal to amend para. 3.3., Group 5 to add LED replacement light source categories H9, H10, HB3, and HIR2, insert new sheets H9_LEDr/1 to 7, H10_LEDr/1 to 7, HB3_LEDr/1 to 7, and HIR2_LEDr/1 to 7 in Annex 3, and update the Status table to reflect Amendment 13 based on TFSR-28 documents, with H10 proposal based on GRE-94-19, specifications derived from enforced LEDr category sheets and equivalence criteria detailed in GRE-83-15.
The 29th meeting of the GRE Task Force on Substitutes/Retrofits is scheduled for 13 July 2026, 13:00–14:00 CEST, held online via Teams. The agenda includes discussion of the way forward, review of GRE94 report, proposals for R.E.5 covering H11 LEDr, H8 LEDr, H16 LEDr, HB4 LEDr, front fog types including H10, high beam types including HIR2, HB3, and H9, low beam types, clarification of R37 requirements for LEDr, enforcement and market surveillance, preparation and submissions to GRE95, any other business, and next meetings.
The 79th SLR Informal Working Group Meeting will be held 7–11 September 2026 at AP Ichigaya, 8th Floor, AP Ichigaya, Ichigaya Osato Building, 1–10 Gobancho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 102–0076, Japan. A reception is scheduled for 9 September 2026 at 18:00–20:00. The meeting includes sessions on Task Force on Glare Prevention and Task Force on Lamps Under Parked Conditions and Task Force on Autonomous Vehicle Signalling Requirements, though it has not yet been decided whether the latter two task forces will be held during the Tokyo meetings. Draft minutes of the 49th session of the Task Force on Tyre Abrasion (TFTA), held June 3rd, 2026 (9:00–12:00 CET). Previous meeting minutes were approved. Action item TA-48-1: ETRTO to check feasibility to upload acceleration calculation examples on TFTA wiki. ETRTO confirmed feasibility assessment completed; example files could be moved to TFTA wiki with a disclaimer that TFTA is not responsible for example content. Action item TA-49-1: ETRTO will prepare disclaimer to be reviewed and validated by TFTA during 50th session. Agenda adopted. ETRTO presented comments on updated Gantt prepared by UTAC per document TA-49-03. TFTA agreed to evaluate data analysis per tyre segment when data available. JASIC requested more time to review and provide feedback next session. ETRTO and JATMA tyre manufacturers ready to make selected tyres available; first orders and deliveries started last week of May. Training session on best practices organized 2nd half of June. Action item TA-48-2: SWG on data assessment to redefine scope and mandate. SWG leader presented amendment proposal per document TA-49-02. TFTA agreed with SWG scope and mandate per TA-49-02/Rev.1. ETRTO stated mileage potential work should address all TFTA members and tyre manufacturers associations at UN level. JRC studying tread depth divided by abrasion index approach. Topic readdressed next TFTA. ETRTO noted test campaign running; final results expected Q4 2026 including 2nd set Normal and 3PMSF temperature behavior tests and pressure impact test. Action item TA-49-2: EC and JRC will reflect by next TFTA session how annex 4 would be impacted considering C2 tyres. TFTA co-chair suggested extraordinary brainstorming session end September/beginning October 2026 for C3 tyre abrasion test method development. Next meetings: 50th session July 6 (9:00–12:00 CET); 51st session August 25 (9:00–12:00 CET).
