Proposal to improve the text, adds that the definitions in UN R48 apply unless the regulation or the vehicle-category-specific regulations (UN R53, 78, 86) specify different applicable definitions, to clarify that the construction provision and prohibition on use of paints or varnishes under paragraph 4.1.6 only apply to retro-reflectors, to correct the omission of Class F devices from the title of paragraph 5.4., and to add the water-resistance test (from UN R69 and R70) to Annex 7.
11. The Secretary of IWG SLR introduced the first proposals for amendments to the original versions of the LSD, RID and RRD UN Regulations (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2018/36, ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2018/37 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2018/38). GRE adopted these proposals and noted that some of these amendments were essentially corrections of errors in the original SLR package while others were improvements. GRE stressed the need to rectify the discovered errors, such as the correction of Table 9 in the RID UN Regulation (as proposed in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2018/37) and the correction of Annex 7 of the RRD UN Regulation (as proposed in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2018/38) and requested the secretariat to submit these corrections to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration at their November 2018 sessions as corrigenda to the original SLR package. The “improvement” amendments would be submitted to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration at their June 2019 sessions, as explained in para. 8 above.
12. GRE also noted draft consolidated proposals for amendments to UN Regulation Nos. [148] and [150] (GRE-82-30 and GRE-82-26). The Chair invited GRE experts to review these documents and send their comments to IWG SLR.
15. GRE addressed a proposal for a new 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150 that was prepared by IWG SLR ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/15 and GRE-85-05). GRE adopted the proposal, as amended by GRE-85-15, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150. GRE recalled the alternative transitional provision in GRE-85-30 and requested IWG SLR to consider it and to report back to GRE at its next session in April 2022 (see paragraph 10 above).
27. GRE stressed that the adopted amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 74, 86, 148, 149 and 150, as reflected in paragraphs 9, 12, 15, 17, 20, 23–26, 31 and 33, should be submitted as a package to the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1. GRE agreed to review these proposals at its next session in April 2022.
