Proposal to enable application of the designation “twinned wheels” across all Category L vehicles.
53. The expert from IMMA rapidly introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2015/30 proposing to insert into the R.E.3 a definition of “twinned wheels”. He added that his organization was still considering the categories of vehicles concerned and he suggested deferring the discussion on this subject. He announced the submission of an informal document with further details for consideration at the next GRSG session.
52. Recalling the purpose of ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2015/30, the expert from IMMA announced his intention to submit, for consideration at the forthcoming GRSG session, a revised proposal on a definition of “twinned wheels”, taking into account the comments received by the members of his organization.
53. GRSG welcomed the information and agreed to resume consideration of this subject at its next session in October 2016 on the basis of an updated official document by IMMA.
65. The expert from IMMA introduced GRSG-115-12, in reference to ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2015/30, which amend the provisions of R.E.3 to allow the application of “twinned wheels” on all vehicles of category L. The expert from EC suggested reading in the proposed paragraph 2.1.1. “twinned wheels configuration” instead of “twinned wheels”. A number of experts endorsed the proposal. GRSG agreed to resume consideration of this subject at its next session and requested the secretariat to circulate GRSG-115-12 with an official symbol.
56. Recalling the discussion at the previous session of GRSG, the expert from IMMA introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2019/8 to amend the provisions of R.E.3 to allow the application of “twinned wheels” on all vehicles of category L. GRSG noted general support and adopted the document. The secretariat was requested to submit ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2019/8 to WP.29 as an amendment to the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles for consideration at its November 2019 session.
57. The expert from IMMA volunteered to check if a parallel amendment to the Special Resolution No. 1 (S.R.1) under the 1998 Agreement was necessary and offered to keep GRSG informed.
67. The expert from IMMA recalled ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2019/8 and informed GRSG that the check if a parallel amendment to the Special Resolution No. 1 (S.R.1) under the 1998 Agreement was necessary was not finalized. GRSG agreed to keep this item on its agenda.
