The expert from Japan provided interpretation of the provisions in the 06 series of amendment to Regulation No. 48 on automatic switching of dipped-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps relative to the ambient light conditions and stressed their positive implications for road safety (GRE-78-29). However, GRE and TF HS noted the concerns of Japan about possibilities for manual switching off and decided to revert to this issue at the next session.
