| Summary | Proposal to redefine the measurement criteria for determining appropriate seat spacing in order to address observed cases where adequate spacing is not achieved even though the current criteria are fulfilled. The type approval authorities of the member states of the European Union (TAAM) discussed the proper interpretation of the text of the Regulation in the case of seats with a central recess (sunken area) and decided that the text of the Regulation needed to be modified in order to provide an adequate method to measure the H dimension. | ||||||||

8. The expert from Romania introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2015/21 proposing to clarify the requirements on seat spacing. GRSG noted study reservations by the experts from the Czech Republic and Germany. The expert from OICA announced to further clarify the provisions of the measurement method. The Chair invited all experts to send their comments to the expert from Romania who volunteered to submit to the secretariat a revised proposal for a final review at the next GRSG session. |
