Proposal to extend the scope of the Regulation to all kinds of power train systems above a certain working voltage level.

Text as adopted by the Working Party on Passive Safety (GRSP) at its 52nd session proposing requirements for vehicles with automatically activated door locking systems to allow for automatically unlocking systems to enable exit post-crash.

Text adopted by the GRSP to correct the text for electric vehicles in UN R94, replacing the word “power train” with “occupants” in the referenced rules, ‘registration’ with ‘approval’ in transition provisions in accordance with WP.29 guidelines, and correcting use of the acronym “RESS” to “REESS”.

Proposal to provide further requirements for electric vehicles and to clarify the definition of “exposed conductive parts”.

Proposals as approved by the GRSP:

1) to require, in cases where a vehicle has no sun visor or roof, that the airbag warning label be positioned where it is clearly visible at all times, and

2) to introduce provisions for coupling systems used in charging a Rechargeable Energy Storage System (REESS).

Proposal to align UN R94 with the draft amendment to add camera-monitor systems to UN R46 (i.e., document WP.29/2015/84). Under UN R94, the measurement for the 40% overlap between the vehicle and crash barrier excludes external rear-view mirrors. This proposal would extend the same treatment where the mirror has been replaced by an exterior camera.
