JRC replies to the questions received from the 24th EVS informal group session on the presentation “Gas emissions from thermal runaway and propagation of Li-ion battery cells in short stack and module experiments”.

Proposal to include visual/audible inspections of batteries and pass/fail criteria throughout the electric vehicle safety test procedures in order to address risks associated with the release of flammable and toxic gases intended to relieve internal pressure and avoid battery ruptures or explosion.
