27. The expert from OICA presented the status report on the activities of the Task Force on Hydrogen Regulations (TF-H2) (informal document GRSP-79-28), with the following main points:

1. The transposition of the optional part of UN GTR No. 13 on liquefied hydrogen storage systems (LHSS) into a new UN Regulation was endorsed by GRSP in its previous session and is on the agenda of the June 2026 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 for final adoption. Beyond the direct transposition, this new UN Regulation corrects a mistake in an equation present in the UN GTR and adds Periodical Technical Inspection (PTI) and Conformity of Production requirements.
2. TF-H2 considers ISO 19887-1:2024 insufficient for verifying the mechanical integrity and durability of fuel lines used as components of a compressed hydrogen storage system (CHSS) and has decided to defer further discussions on this issue to a potential third phase of the IWG.
3. TF-H2 has identified several refinements to the current text of UN Regulation No. 134. The expert from OICA presented a draft proposal to incorporate them (informal document GRSP-79-29). GRSP received this proposal positively and requested the secretariat to convert it into a working document for the next session.
4. TF-H2 has identified several areas for future work and is preparing to request AC.3 for authorisation to embark in a third phase of the IWG. GRSP requested that this third phase also include the backporting of the improvements identified during the transposition of the optional part of UN GTR No.13 into a new UN Regulation.

28. GRSP agreed that the short title for the new UN Regulation on liquid hydrogen would be “Safety of liquid hydrogen vehicles, systems and components”. GRSP also agreed to change the short title of UN Regulation No. 134 to “Safety of compressed hydrogen vehicles, systems and components” and requested the secretariat to start using it where appropriate.
