17.2. UN GTR No. 22 on in-vehicle battery durability (Electric vehicles and the environment)

125. The representative of Canada, as secretary to the IWG on EVE, informed AC.3 that the IWG on EVE had been gaining experience with UN GTR No. 22 implementation through regulation development of various contracting parties, including Canada, China, the European Commission, Japan, Korea, the U.S. and others.

126. He announced the IWG on EVE was working on the next Phase 3 of amendments to UN GTR No. 22 with a focus on, inter alia, investigating minimum performance requirements for the state of certified range, considering the Part C virtual distance test and incorporating the family concept for Part C virtual distance verification, and considering alignment of provisions for the work to transpose UN GTR No. 22 into the relevant UN Regulations.

127. He mentioned that the next amendment to UN GTR No. 22 was scheduled to be tabled at the November 2026 session of WP.29 and AC.3.
