6. (a) UN Regulation No. 171 (Driver-Control Assistance Systems)

39. The representative of the Russian Federation, Chair of the Task Force on ADAS, presented the status report (GRVA-23-37) listing the activities performed by the task force since the twenty-second GRVA session in line with the mandate received by GRVA at the twentieth GRVA session (GRVA-20-21/Add.1). He detailed the approach taken for extending system-initiated manoeuvres and the conditions of withholding the hands-on requests. He provided an indicative schedule the next deliverables expected from the group. The representative of Norway welcomed the status report and the approach taken for the Phase III of development of UN Regulation No. 171. He noted the challenge posed by driver engagement with these systems, for which countermeasures were needed.
