GRSP | Session 78 | 1-4 Dec 2025

26. The expert from France introduced informal documents GRSP-78-36 and GRSP-78-37 amending working documents ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2025/37 and GRSP/2025/38, which aim to correct inconsistencies regarding vehicles of category O. The expert from the Russian Federation asked why a distinction between Rechargeable Electrical Energy Storage Systems (REESS) and batteries used for recuperation only was needed in the regulatory text. The expert from the Kingdom of the Netherlands explained that it was a semantic matter, as by definition a REESS provides electric energy for electrical propulsion and therefore the term does not include batteries used for recuperation only. The experts from France and the Russian Federation worked together to produce a revision of the proposal that would avoid misinterpretations. GRSP adopted informal documents GRSP-78-36-Rev.2 and GRSP-78-37-Rev.2 (as reproduced in annex V) and requested the secretariat to submit them as proposals for supplement 06 to the 03 series of amendments, supplement 03 to the 04 series of amendments and supplement 1 to the 05 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100 to the June 2026 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1.
