Agenda item 4.15.1. RE5: Proposal for Amendment 12 to the Consolidated Resolution on the common specification of light source categories

Proposal to introduce introduce new light emitting diode (LED) light source categories LRR8A and LRR8B, to amend provisions in paragraph 3.1, group 1, group 2, and group 3 concerning phase out of certain light source categories and to introduce new LED replacement light source categories H8, H16 and HB4.

11. The experts from GTB tabled other proposals for amendments to R.E.5 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2025/15). GRE adopted the proposals and mandated the secretariat to submit them to WP.29 for consideration at its March 2026 session.

10. GRE was informed about the activities of the Task Force on Substitutes and Retrofits (TF SR) (GRE-93-04) and adopted their amendment proposals to the Consolidated Resolution on the Common Specification of Light Source Categories (R.E.5) that introduce new light emitting diode (LED) replacement light source categories H8, H16 and HB4 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2025/17). The secretariat was requested to forward these amendments to WP.29 for consideration at its March 2026 session.
