Proposal to amend UN R135 Supplement 4 to the 02 series of amendments. The Regulation is amended to account for vehicles of category X. The Regulation is extended to apply to vehicles without driver and without manual driving controls inside the vehicle. In case of vehicles equipped with an Automated Driving System other than vehicles of categories X and Y, in manual driving mode no special provisions apply; in a mode where an ADS feature is active the relevant ADS requirements apply. Amendments address scope, definitions, and approval test procedures for pole side impact testing.

42. GRSP noted that at its November 2025 session, WP.29 reaffirmed its objective to adopt all documents related to the review of existing UN Regulations related to Automated Driving Systems (ADS) at its June 2026 session and invited the Chairs of the Working Parties to consider various strategies to ensure timely preparation of the required documents. This corresponded to option 1 in informal document WP.29-197-25 and would require all proposals under this agenda item to be adopted by GRSP on this session.

43. Following a general update by the expert from Germany on the first day of the meeting, the GRSP Task Force on Automated Vehicles Regulation Screening (TF-AVRS) continued work on the margins of the meeting to refine the proposals and submitted a number of informal documents to amend the proposals in working documents under this agenda item. GRSP adopted the following proposals :

  1. ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2025/11 as amended by GRSP-78-48 as amended (as reproduced in annex IX), with a proposal for supplement 3 to the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 11,
