| WP.29 | Session 197 | 10-14 Nov 2025 |
103. The Chair of the Informal Working Group on Safer and Cleaner Used and New Vehicles (IWG on SCUNV) presented their recent activities (WP.29-197-29). He reported that there had been three IWG meetings since the last WP.29 session, as well as several leadership team meetings. He informed WP.29 that the group had prepared a Resolution following the guidance given by WP.29 at the previous session and the group was preparing a document for submission to the June 2026 session of WP.29 for adoption. 104. The Chair of the IWG on SCUNV therefore requested a one-year extension of the IWG mandate until December 2026. The Chair of WP.29 wondered if a two-year extension would be more appropriate to complete the work of the group. The representative of the United States of America advised that they would only support a one-year extension of the work of the group. The representative of the Netherlands (Kingdom of the) noted that the IWG on SCUNV provided an avenue for countries in Africa to participate in the work of WP.29 and also supported a one-year extension of the mandate. Based on these views, WP.29 agreed to extend the existing mandate of the IWG on SCUNV until December 2026. |
