4. (e) Coordination of work on automation between working parties (GRs)

GRVA may wish to discuss the work coordination between working parties on ADS.

(i) Fitness of UN GTRs and UN Regulations for ADS

GRVA may wish to be informed on the progress made by the Task Force on the Fitness for ADS (FADS).

GRVA agreed to consider revised amendment proposals to UN Regulations prepared by the Task Force on FADS, introducing elements that permit the type-approval of vehicles equipped with an ADS pursuant to these regulations.

GRVA may wish to consider an amendment proposal to UN Regulation No. 79 complementing ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/41 amended by informal document GRVA-23-16, introducing clarifications aimed at enabling the type-approval of automated vehicles, including those without manual controls.

GRVA also agreed to discuss how the TF on FADS should deal with UN Regulation No. 78 (Motorcycle braking).

(ii)  Vehicle subcategories for ADS

GRVA will be briefed on the outcome of WP.29 and AC.3 deliberations in November 2025 on the proposals for amendments to the Consolidated Resolution R.E.3 and the Special Resolution S.R.1 including provisions introducing two new vehicle subcategories X and Y for ADS prepared by the Task Force on Automated Vehicle Categorization.

(iii) Exchange of views on scenarios

GRVA may wish to be briefed on the outcome of the workshop on scenarios scheduled in November 2025, as proposed by the expert from France at the twenty-third session of GRVA.
