10. The expert from IWG MU introduced a general approach how to handle measurement uncertainties (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRBP/2022/9, as amended by GRBP-75-07, and GRBP-75-08). GRBP endorsed this document and requested the secretariat to publish it as a document of reference on the GRBP website. The expert from IWG MU pointed out that an amendment to this document would be presented at the next session. GRBP that WP.29 should be informed about the developed general approach to measurement uncertainties, because it could apply to UN Regulations beyond the scope of GRBP.

7. The representative from OICA introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRPE/2022/2 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRPE/2022/8 proposing to integrate requirements for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in the 06 and 07 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 83 and Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3). The representative from Spain proposed clarifications on ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRPE/2022/8 to be included in any revised version (GRPE-85-48), and requested clarifications on ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRPE/2022/2, as supported by the representative from Sweden.
8. The representative from Australia asked whether similar provisions should also be included in UN Regulation No. 154. The representative from France supported the proposals and requested to be cautious about exempting from Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements. The representative from the European Union, as supported by the representative from the Netherlands, needed a review on the deletion of the extension rule and requested additional time to consider the proposals.
9. The representative from OICA explained the rationale for the proposals, mainly to ease the way in some markets where a very limited number of vehicles falling under the definition of SPVs are registered, and where identifying vehicle to perform CoP tests would be very challenging. The representative from OICA also agreed for a delayed consideration of the proposals, and he proposed to improve the documents for a consideration in forthcoming sessions of GRPE.

115. The expert from CLCCR held a presentation on Advanced axles in trailers, addressing new technologies to reduce CO2 emissions for vehicle combinations, with the aim of launching discussions within GRSG on the subject matter. The presentation contained information on the state of the art of the development of independently driven trailer axels using a dedicated electric power source, highlighting that electric trailer propulsion offers a wide range of applications (recuperation, acceleration, support start/stop manoeuvres) which could contribute to lowering CO2 emissions of vehicles. He explained that the introduction of such technology in the market would require the amendment of the definition of trailers in R.E.3 and in the Special Resolution No. 1 concerning the common definitions of vehicle categories, masses, and dimensions (S.R.1), as well as its alignment in several relevant UN Regulations (Nos. 13 and 100). He asked GRSG experts for feedback concerning the potential amendment of the relevant definitions, inquired concerning interest in possible discussions on the subject matter among interested stakeholders, and proposed that CLCCR put forth a proposal in this respect at the October 2021 session of GRSG.
116. Following comments and feedback from France, Germany, the Netherlands and the European Commission, addressing potential safety implications that the new technology poises in terms of the interaction of the trailed and the towing vehicle, GRSG invited interested stakeholders to work with CLCCR on this topic towards potentially tabling a proposal that would allow the emerging technology to be aligned with UN Regulations at the upcoming sessions of GRSG.
